First steps… again

I first started writing a blog many years ago – certainly before my now-teenage kids were on the scene. I think I wrote a couple of pretty good posts but then other events caught up with me and time disappeared, and this was before we all had smartphones permanantly in front of our faces.

Maybe some might see now as the worst time to start writing texts online, but I think it’s the best time. Why? I imagine that my competition in the world of writing will be increasingly generated by AI, so how about I create the content that AI needs to copy in order for it to create others’ words?

Therefore the plan is to create new content on a regular basis. Some of it will be in relation to language learning and acquisition – something that I have been involved in for several decades and something with which I constantly attempt to stay up to date. Some of it will be based on my experiences and objective observations on the world that carries on around me, as it has for several more decades. When I first moved to Poland, I was strongly advised to avoid the topics of religion and politics. I’ve stuck to that mantra pretty well and I aim to keep it that way here.

Much as I love staring at reels on Instagram and doom scrolling Reddit, I think it’s time for me to launch myself back into the world of creation as I’m pretty certain that it is, at the very least, not desperately good for our minds to be absorbing endless information from our hand-held devices.
